What does a PTO do?
The P.T.O. at Hudson Park Elementary in Rainier, OR, exists to support the students and teachers in our community. We work through fundraising, event planning, and coordination of efforts within our school. We hope you can work with us to give our children and their teachers the best possible elementary school experience and set them up for success later in their school careers.
-
Here at the PTO, we want to help our kids have a fun and meaningful Elementary School experience. We do this by organizing fun events like the “Fun Run,” school assemblies, and Field Day.
-
We’re here to talk with and understand our students and see how we can work to make their school experience better.
-
We want to support and show appreciation for our staff through appreciation events, volunteer organization, and reimbursing school/classroom expenses for teachers.
Help your kid earn prizes!
The fun run is one of the PTO’s fun events and a fundraiser! During the week of the fun run, we’re having dress-up days, a running event during their specials time on thursday, and a friendly competition among the classes to see who can earn the most points!
-
The class that earns the most points over the course of the week will be rewarded with a pizza party for the entire class! In addition, they will win $300 for the class! The teacher will work with the students to figure out how best to spend it.
-
The grade with the highest lap average per student will earn a grade wide popcorn party!
-
Whichever class has the highest participation percentage between the dress-up days, running, and returning pledge sheets will win a doughnut party!
How can the students earn points?
-
If the student returns their pledge sheets (or gets online donations) then they will earn points for their class.
1% participation = 1 point
-
By raising funds, the student earns a point for every dollar that they raise.
$1 = 1 pt.
-
Classes run laps together during their normally scheduled P.E. class. Each class will have 10 minutes to run as many laps as possible. Then, we will calculate the average number of laps per student and multiply that by 10.
For example, a 17-person class completes 300 laps, an average of 17.6 laps per student, and would earn 176 points.
1 lap average = 10 points
-
Every day during the week of the fun run, we will be having a dress-up day.
Monday: Crazy hair day
Tuesday: Picture Day
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday (dress up in all kinds of mismatched apparel)
Thursday: High Viz, Neon Clothing or anything that will glow under blacklight.
Friday: School spirit day. Black and green or school logo apparel. (Preschool gets a pass on this day. Since they don't have school, their point score will be the average point score of the week).
Each % of the class that dresses up will earn 1 point per day.
For example, if 10 kids in a class of 20 dress up on one day, they will have earned 50 points for the class that day.
1% participation = 1 point/day.
